Moniuszko & Kurpiński
A debut album of Quartetto Nero is an opportunity to get to know the works for string quartet by Polish romantic composers, Stanisław Moniuszko and Karol Kurpiński, in their original sound – different from the contemporary tradition of performance practice. For the very first time in history, these pieces were recorded on period instruments with gut strings and copies of bows from the first half of the 19th century – so the instrumentation used in the times when the pieces were composed. Adding the interpretation of the pieces based on the source knowledge of the romantic performance practice, it gets as close as possible to the authentic sound of these quartets and the original intentions of their composers.
The album was released by Orphée Classics label in December 2019.
